What is the training element of a London Apprenticeship?

The training element will be a package of vocational qualifications that are nationally recognised and specific to the requirements of the job.

It will always include an NVQ, level 2 or 3 and often a Technical Certificate, such as a BTEC or City & Guilds Progression Award, this element of training is mostly integrated into the job. Any off-the-job training is either organised on a day release basis, where the apprentice goes to the premises of the training provider for workshops, or is completed online in the workplace.

Apprentices also have to complete Key Skills* and other necessary certificates such as the Employmnet Rights and Responsibilities hand book. Uniquely with The LAC these are completed prior to employment so as to reduce the time spent not in work.

*Key skills are essential skills that learners need to support them in their job including; Communication, Application of Number, Information and Communications technology; Working with Others; Improving own Learning & Performance and Problem Solving.
